All the great potential of home cage monitoring (HCM) will remain unrealised if the knowledge about its value is not communicated and disseminated efficiently via appropriate channels to the relevant target audiences. This chapter explains why effective communication and widespread dissemination are so important and describes in detail who are relevant stakeholders, what messages they need to hear, which channels are appropriate for which audience, which tools to use (including AI-driven storytelling), what efforts are involved, and how to evaluate the impact of your communication activities. The necessity of understanding target audiences and tailoring messages, media, and formats accordingly are highlighted. Using examples and case studies, we demonstrate why such efforts are worth it and how they can contribute not only to increased acceptance and funding support for HCM, but also to building public trust in animal research. The goal of this chapter is to help the reader understand that for any technical or scientific development to have an impact, efficient sharing of the new knowledge with relevant audiences is a prerequisite. We will explain in detail in the following subchapters:
