Mapping Industrial Relations and Evaluating Employees’ Perceptions Through Social Network Analysis
摘要
Industrial relations (IR) play a pivotal role in shaping employees’ perceptions and enhancing overall organizational effectiveness, especially in dynamic sectors such as the pharmaceutical industry. This study explores the effectiveness of various advanced analytic techniques in evaluating IR from the perspective of employees. This study investigates the dynamics of industrial relations by analyzing employees’ perceptions and communication patterns through Social Network Analysis (SNA) techniques. Using a dataset comprising 30 employees from three different companies (A, B, and C), the study evaluates key SNA metrics: Degree Centrality (CD), Betweenness Centrality (CB), Closeness Centrality (CC), Eigenvector Centrality (CE), and Communication Frequency per week. These indicators were synthesized into a comprehensive SNA Score (0–10) for each employee to assess their influence and connectedness within their organizational networks. The analysis, detailed visualized in a heatmap and comparative, reveals significant inter-company differences. This research confirms these disparities through average metric comparisons, supporting the conclusion that stronger, more centralized communication networks are linked to more effective industrial relations climates. The findings emphasize the role of communication centrality and frequency in shaping employee perceptions, enhancing collaboration, and ultimately driving organizational effectiveness. This research demonstrates that SNA provides a valuable diagnostic tool for evaluating and improving industrial relations through the lens of employee connectivity and engagement.
