Artificial Intelligence (AI) has been reshaping journalism deeply by automating the process of collecting news, transforming. Despite being used for over a decade, AI has proved the key role in enhancing the productivity, content personalization and supported fact—checking. However, the popularity of large language models (LLMs) and automated news production system also show out the big challenges relating to ethical standards, transparency and public trust. The article has overviewed the academic works of AI applications in journalism from 2020 to 2025 with the aim of analysing 4 main apps: -Content production; -Fact checking, -Content personalization, -support edition. 51 academic materials were collected and then analyzed to clarify 3 key issues in this research: 1. The AI practical applications in news production and distribution; The operational limits and institutional challenges when integrating AI into the journalism environment. The consequence of ethics—profession due to increasing the role of algorithms in journalism. In addition, this study has found out the clear differentiation of benefits, risks and the Al approach level among the nations in Global North and Global South. The three core ethical challenges are identified in this article, including the erosion of professional independence, responsibility gap and the normalization of uncontrolled automated processes. Based on this, the research proposed an interdisciplinary ethical frame and specialized training orientation in order to integrate Al sustainably, contributing to protect the core value of journalism in the digital transformation environment worldwide.

The Use of AI in Newsrooms—A Systematic Literature Review
