The Evolution of AI in Journalism
摘要
This chapter examines the transformative evolution of artificial intelligence (AI) in journalism, synthesizing empirical evidence of its integration into newsroom workflows. The analysis identifies significant opportunities, particularly in enhancing operational efficiency through automated content generation and transcription, which allows journalists to reallocate time to high-value editorial activities. Furthermore, AI contributes to improved content quality via automated fact-checking and enables novel storytelling formats through personalization and interactive data visualization. However, the widespread adoption of AI presents several challenges. Ethical concerns regarding algorithmic bias, transparency, and media authenticity are paramount. Additionally, the chapter addresses workforce implications, specifically the risk of job displacement in routine reporting and the critical need for reskilling and role redefinition in the field. Technical limitations, such as model “hallucinations,” and quality control issues regarding narrative depth further complicate adoption. Ultimately, this chapter advocates for a “human-in-the-loop” framework, concluding that sustainable AI integration must complement, rather than replace, human editorial judgment and integrity.
