The metaverse is a socially engaging technology that provides virtual users with assistance in learning, collaboration, and interaction. Metaverse comes out not as an independent technology but as a fusion of modern computer science techniques with virtual interactions. This chapter provides a detailed explanation of the metaverse concept while focusing on its contribution to transforming the virtual teaching and learning process, workplace collaborations, and shifts in users’ social interactions. This chapter also examines the technological infrastructures that enable metaverse ecosystems, the new organisational forms of organisation, and the opportunities and difficulties brought about by this digital revolution. The chapter offers a universal framework for understanding how the metaverse is changing the idea of human–computer relations and the social structures of the digital age by combining their study of technology and its effects on the world with organisational science and learning research.
