L2 Teachers’ Cultural Identity Development in Practice
摘要
Chapter 7 deals with the practical sides of L2 teachers’ cultural identity development. It starts with the theory of community of practice and how to use it to develop L2 teachers’ cultural identity. Next, culturally responsive teaching has been elaborated through the lens of community of practice, practically highlighting its main components in practice. Then, the association between classroom management and L2 teachers’ cultural identity has been explored, leading to culturally responsive classroom management practices. Given the reciprocal nature of the relationship between L2 teachers’ teaching strategies and their cultural identity, Chap. 7 depicts the practical aspects of this relationship. In addition, L2 teachers’ material development and L2 assessment have been elaborated, providing a critical overview of how these aspects can (re)construct L2 teachers’ cultural identity and vice versa. Chapter 7 makes “practicality” the core concept by translating it into the theoretical points mentioned.
