Long-Haul Optical Fiber Transmission Using Regeneration Repeaters
摘要
The first-generation long-haul submarine cable systems using optical fiber employed regeneration repeaters. In a regeneration repeater, optical signals are converted to electrical signals and the distorted waveforms are cleaned with reshaping and retiming functions in the electrical circuits. Then the regenerated optical signals are launched into the next section. This chapter presents an overview of the optical regeneration repeater technologies and commercial Trans-Pacific submarine cable systems using optical regeneration repeaters.
