The article presents the historical stages and basic functional capabilities of GSM-R communication system, describes the process of installing GSM-R devices on railway rolling stock: an organizational installation process is proposed, requirements for their installation analysed, possible installation problems and examples of solving these problems are described. Also rolling stock with GSM-R equipment certification methodology are described.
