Challenges in Implementing Logistics 4.0 Technologies in Freight Transport Companies
摘要
Freight transport plays an essential role in today’s supply chains by ensuring goods are delivered efficiently and on time across different regions. In Europe, this sector is facing mounting pressure due to the ongoing effects of globalization, the rapid growth of e-commerce, and increasing environmental demands. In light of these developments, companies are gradually turning to Logistics 4.0 technologies as a way to modernize their operations through digital tools, real-time data, and automation. However, the uptake of such technologies remains uneven, and many organizations encounter significant challenges during implementation. This research explores the primary barriers that freight transport companies face when attempting to integrate Logistics 4.0 solutions into their operations. Based on a review of current academic research and policy initiatives, particularly the European Green Deal, the paper outlines several organizational, technical, and regulatory challenges that continue to hinder progress. By identifying these issues, the research aims to support efforts to develop freight transport systems that are better equipped to adapt to change and operate more sustainably. Ultimately, the findings offer insights into how freight companies can move towards more resilient and digitally capable operations, helping to align the sector with broader goals of smart and sustainable mobility.
