The pharmaceutical industry is facing some major challenges in the areas of supply chain, data security, drug forgery and compliance issues. These issues severely impact patient safety, product integrity, financial losses and operational efficiency in the pharmaceutical sector. Blockchain technology provides a viable solution to these issues because of its decentralized, immutable and transparent nature. By integrating blockchain technology into the pharmaceutical sector, stakeholders can implement secure drug authentication systems, prevent drug forgery and counterfeiting, and enhance supply chain operations security. Moreover, blockchain has the capability of maintaining transparent and traceable records, thereby improving the efficiency of clinical trials. This paper delves into various applications and use cases of blockchain in the pharmaceutical sector, such as drug traceability, secure clinical trials, and regulatory compliance.
