Recent global environmental, economic, and social thresholds have demonstrated that the linear model of production and consumption is far from being sustainable. In an attempt to change this scenario, the Circular Economy represents an alternative to rethinking this dominant logic, detaching value creation from resource consumption. In between the proposition of new business models, product-service systems (PSS) are considered a relevant path towards circularity by reducing the environmental impacts of manufactured products and promoting gains in resource productivity. Despite this potential to contribute to enhancing sustainability, PSS are prone to rebound effects (RE) that offset the sustainable gains due to systemic changes. Although the literature has driven significant initial efforts in this area, the deep comprehension of the occurrence of RE in a servitized context is still nascent, indicating a call for a clearer comprehension of the necessary next advancements in its knowledge. This paper aims to identify and categorize the research gaps that can advance the understanding of the potential RE occurrence within PSS contexts and propose a research agenda to address them. To do so, this study examines sixteen studies obtained through a systematic literature review gathering the two areas of interest, leading to the identification of four research gaps: case studies of RE in PSS implementation, behavioural attitudes associated with RE in PSS, impact of RE on PSS outcomes, and RE in B2B-driven PSS.

摘要
