Use of Chatbots in Academic Activities: A Survey of Teachers and Students

AI Chatbots tools have spread in many areas of our daily and professional life, in particular they are being widely used in the academic field. For this reason, it is necessary to understand how many university students and how many professors use generative AI as part of their academic work, how often they use it and for which tasks they use it. To this end, very similar surveys have been applied to students and professors. The results indicate that students have a wider and more varied use of these tools than professors. It also reflects the fears that exist with their use but also the potential that exists in the academic environment. These results can be used to design a strategy for their efficient incorporation in the teaching–learning processes of higher education institutions.
