This paper introduces a conceptual blending method for creating patterns in hybrid creative spaces, offering a deductive, generative complement to traditional (inductive) pattern mining. Starting from validated physical and digital pattern languages—PL-CS and PL-CMI—the workflow (i) stages input patterns, (ii) aligns them via a generic schema (time–space–agent–action) to map correspondences, (iii) performs selective projection to compose a blended pattern, and (iv) completes and elaborates it through pattern-writing workshop. In a EuroPLoP workshop with seven experts, 13 blended patterns were produced, demonstrating novel yet legible solutions when designs demand cross-domain or re-contextualized use. Blended patterns remain traceable to their sources and evaluable in practice, yielding a shareable protocol for education and deployment. We outline implications for design education, tools and a blended pattern repository that links retrospective mining with prospective invention.

摘要
