Primary Enuresis
摘要
Primary enuresis is a common problem in childhood, affecting 20% of 5 year olds. The mainstay of treatment is non-pharmacological but if these measures fail then medicines may be used. First line treatment is with desmopressin to reduce the volume of urine produced overnight. Second-line treatments include anticholinergics, which are particularly useful if the child complains of daytime storage symptoms. Third line treatment includes imipramine which is a tricyclic antidepressant and must be used with caution and under the direct supervision of a medical professional.
