Drawing on the ActEU project, this chapter explores tensions surrounding the legitimacy of expert recommendations, the challenge of communicating complexity, and the need for practical impact analysis. Rational communicative strategies are necessary to make research policy-relevant and socially resonant, effectively strengthening the importance of evidence in decision-making and contributing to the enhancement of democratic debate.
