The medical school preclinical curriculum has evolved immensely over the last century. For better or worse, basic science instruction to modern medical students is no longer confined to the physical classroom or laboratory. Modern education tools, including virtual lectures and third-party resources, offer medical students alternative modes of learning that would have been inconceivable to their predecessors. While these options may allow medical students to tailor their learning to their own needs, they also come with their own set of challenges and uncomfortable questions about who benefits the most from these new resources. This chapter explores the modern preclinical curriculum, including the innovative new tools today’s medical students use to dive into the field of medicine and the ethics of a medical education independent of a medical school.

摘要
