As technology continues to improve, new advancements in diagnostic tools change how clinicians approach medicine. Several tools are developing to improve diagnostics, including genetic testing, point-of-care resources like UpToDate®, tools powered by artificial intelligence (AI), and Point-of-Care Ultrasound (POCUS). Genetic testing has shown promising advancements with in-vitro fertilization (IVF) as well as several neurologic, renal, and cardiac conditions. Point-of-care resources can be used at the bedside to aid physicians by providing evidence-based information on conditions. After gaining this information AI tools can be used to adapt these diagnostics to each patient. POCUS is emerging in many fields of medicine in hospital, clinic, and under-resourced settings, using ultrasound as a quick and efficient way to detect several conditions. As these tools continue to be implemented into medical practice, care needs to be taken to ensure their use is ethical and potential biases are considered. This chapter will explore several of the technological advancements that have improved diagnostics in healthcare, including their benefits and limitations as they work to improve health equity.

摘要
