Green FinTech for Smart Cities: Advancing ESG Goals Through Financial Inclusion and Digital Innovation
摘要
The intersection of FinTech, Environmental, Social, Governance (ESG) principles, and smart city development presents a transformational avenue to sustainable, inclusive urban economies. This chapter seeks to examine Green FinTech, digital financial innovations guided by environmental and social objectives, in contributing to ESG goals and financial inclusion in smart urban environments. With the use of technology such as blockchain, AI analytics, and mobile banking, Green FinTech supports ESG transparency, green credit allocation optimization, and financial access democratization for the underserved. Exemplified through case studies in China, the MENA region, and Nordic nations, FinTech enables environmental sustainability through green bonds, social equity through digital microloans, and better governance through real-time ESG reporting. Digital inequality, cybersecurity threats, and dispersed ESG metrics create obstacles, especially in emerging economies. Policy recommendations are in favour of ESG-by-design principles, public-private partnerships, and integrated global ESG-FinTech indices. Through the combination of technology innovation with social inclusion and environmental sustainability, this chapter offers a guide to using Green FinTech to develop resilient, inclusive, and sustainable smart cities, filling salient research gaps and future interdisciplinary directions.
