The convergence of commerce, business, entertainment, education, and healthcare into the metaverse is revolutionizing how people interact, transact, and engage in virtual environments. As these activities migrate to the digital realm, the risk landscape for virtual assets expands, opening up unprecedented opportunities for the insurance industry to respond and adopt. This paper introduces Metasurance, a blockchain-based decentralized platform designed to empower insurance organizations in developing and managing tailored insurance products for virtual assets across various metaverse platforms. Our solution facilitates the seamless automation of the entire insurance lifecycle, from shopping and purchasing to premium payments, maturity, and claim settlements, by establishing interoperability among diverse metaverse ecosystems. We present a working prototype built on the Hyperledger Fabric blockchain platform, substantiated by empirical evidence from system benchmarks and load testing, which demonstrates improved transaction throughput.
