Energy management is being transformed by the Internet of Things (IoT), with devices based on renewable energy systems increasing the use of real-time data and automation. While these advancements are exciting, they also come with numerous security issues that make the IoT vulnerable to cyberattacks that can cause data breaches and operational outages. This article reviews Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Software Defined Networking (SDN) on the research proposed to secure IoT Systems in Renewable Energy Technologies. The paper investigates the deployment of IoT in energy management, acknowledges security concerns that are currently existing and describes how pair of techniques such as AI powered anomaly detection along with SDN dynamic policy implementation can fabricate secure architecture. To address current and ongoing security holes while planning for future vulnerabilities, we describe an integrated solution through the convergence AI with SDN to secure IoT systems to stabilize sustainable energy advancements.
