To study the destruction of marine and coastal structures by tsunamis and extreme high waves experimentally, it is essential to generate various types of high waves in a wave flume. This study proposes explicit expressions for the displacement of a piston-type wave generator to produce concentrated waves with an arbitrary waveform at an arbitrary point in a wave flume. The validity of the calculated signals was confirmed by numerical simulations (CADMAS-SURF/3D) and hydraulic experiments in a wave flume. Although some effects of wave nonlinearity were observed, the method was found to be useful and applicable to the experiments. The proposed method can also be used to provide boundary conditions for various simulations using numerical wave tanks.

摘要
