In order to prevent rip current accidents, the AI rip current detection system has been operating on five beaches. In fact, rip current accidents have been significantly reduced at each beach location. However, the information provided by the system is based on images captured by fixed-angle cameras, making it difficult for beach-goers to spatially identify the location of rip currents. To address this issue, we developed an AR application that visualizes rip current areas detected by AI. In this study, first confirms the adaptability of the AI model constructed at an adjacent beach, then verifies the conversion accuracy from image data to GPS coordinates and the accuracy of the rip current area positions displayed via AR at the study beach. The results showed that the maximum error between the AI-detected and AR-displayed center points of rip current areas was approximately 12 m. This result was considered to be within an acceptable range in practical operation.

摘要
