The purpose of this article is to analyze the impact of social trust on the acceptance of artificial intelligence (AI) technologies in the context of smart city applications. The article adopts a research model based on three key components of trust: security, anonymity and ethical use of data. The survey was conducted using a quantitative method (CAWI) among 1,500 residents of provincial cities in Poland. PLS-SEM (Partial Least Squares - Structural Equation Modeling) structural equation modeling was used in the analysis. The results indicate that all factors have a significant impact on the overall level of social trust, which in turn determines the declared willingness to use AI applications in smart city.

PLS-SEM (Partial Least Squares - Structural Equation Modeling) structural equation modeling was used in the analysis.
