Importance and Application of Modern Educational Approaches for Training People with Special Needs

The focus of the study is on the importance and possibilities for applying modern approaches to learners with special educational needs in higher education institutions in Bulgaria. The aim is to research and analyze the awareness and opinions of students in technical specialties about the special needs of people with disabilities and contemporary technologies that support their more successful integration into education. An empirical study was conducted on the role of modern technologies in higher education. The survey included general questions and questions related to the implementation of technologies in the educational process, the role of artificial intelligence, robotic technologies, and accessibility for people with special educational needs and future prospects for integration into the educational process. The study was conducted among students from several universities in Bulgaria. The data processing and analysis of the results were conducted as follows the main objective of this study is to determine to what extent students studying in technological specialties are informed about technologies and tools that can support the education of students with special needs. The focus is on questions regarding assistive technologies in the educational process. The paper offers a comparative analysis, summarized results and recommendations for improving the accessibility of training. The implementation of the recommended approaches would help inclusion of people with disabilities in the learning process. The application of current and advanced assistive technologies would contribute to people with special needs having better future professional realization.
