Serious Game for Reading Assessment
摘要
In recent years, a transition from paper-based and physical format tools to digital design has been observed. Digital assessment tools have proven pivotal for evaluating individuals’ skills and progress, while offering flexibility and efficiency. Recent research highlights computer-assisted tools as promising solutions to address reading difficulties interventions. Thus, there is an evident increase in the use and development of serious games in education. However, there is also a notable scarcity of serious games focused on reading skills. The current paper describes the Digital Version of the Screening Test for Reading [TRL-DV] [Teste de Rastreio de Leitura-TRL]. This online tool requires the child to rely on two reading skills: decoding and comprehension. It is a serious game, a digitally adapted version of a paper-based early reading ability screening instrument, developed to assess reading fluency and comprehension. This study also discusses the benefits of digital resources for reading assessments, such as cost reduction, increased reliability, and remote accessibility. The authors aim to contribute to children's engagement and teachers’ work concerning this reliable tool to promote reading acquisition.
