The specific characteristic of teacher training in Romania is that it can be completed alongside a bachelor’s degree or within the framework of a postgraduate training after obtaining a bachelor’s degree. Upon completion of their higher education, a level I teaching certificate entitles graduates to work as teachers in the compulsory stage of public education. In our study, we present the empirical study we conducted in the 2022–2023 academic year at Sapientia Hungarian University of Transylvania Teacher Training Institute in Târgu Mureș. A total of 64 graduate students participated in the study, as part of which they filled out our self-edited questionnaire using Google Forms. Data processing and analysis were performed with SPSS 22.0 program. Graduates ahead of their final exams, who completed their level I teacher training, reflected on the challenges and responsibilities of a teaching career in the light of what they learned and their experiences gained from teaching practice. We examined how prepared they were for a teaching career and how attractive this profession was to them. We assessed whether their views on the teaching profession changed during teacher training and to what extent they found it useful. The results show that at the end of the training, students rated the process of preparing for a teaching career as being useful. Their views on teaching changed significantly over the three years, and they consider it to be a complex, valuable profession requiring a lot of work and responsibility.
