The Enigma of Agnosias: Experiences of University Students Solving an Escape Room for Learning in Psychology

Psychology is a discipline that can greatly benefit from the incorporation of immersive technologies. Escape rooms have proven in other fields of knowledge to be a great option for promoting engagement and teamwork and can be used as an excellent option for formative assessment. The objective of this study is to describe the experiences of students participating in a virtual reality Escape Room designed to assess students’ ability to identify various agnosias. Five psychology students studying Occipital and Parietal Lobe Syndromes collaborated in the study. The results indicate that the students had fun, interesting, and dynamic experiences, which are considered positive when using an Escape Room. Similarly, this innovation is highly valued as a formative assessment tool that allows for the recognition of knowledge mastery, and the usability of the room was favorable. It is concluded that the incorporation of Escape Rooms in the field of psychology can be positive, providing reliable and safe practice spaces that promote student confidence and engage them in the learning process.
