Algorand Blockchain Smart Contract for Electronic Health Record Framework
摘要
The Electronic Health Record is a lifetime record of a patient’s health history. These records can be accessible by the medical team by giving permissions for optimal care; however, the current EHR framework suffers from centralization, security issues, and a lack of interoperability, which leads to inefficiency and compromises patient privacy. This book chapter will address these challenges with the help of the Algorand blockchain, whose carbon is negative, and provide a P-POS consensus mechanism to achieve scalability, security, and decentralization. Further, the chapter explains smart contracts, which are self-executing codes that run on the Algorand Virtual Machine (AVM), on which two types of smart contracts can be built: Stateless and Stateful. We had also explained how these smart contracts can be built healthier EHR in the form life cycle with the existing case study. This study also presents a workable approach for EHR systems that satisfy the requirements of contemporary healthcare environments. All these features of the Algorand blockchain ensure data integrity and security, and decentralization in the required EHR framework. Lastly, the future use of the Algorand blockchain is suggested, along with how smart contracts can be integrated for further utilization of the EHR framework.
