Digital Transformation in SMEs: Toward Hybrid Readiness and Maturity Framework
摘要
The target of this paper is to introduce a framework to assess the couple (readiness, maturity) in Small and Manufacturing Enterprises (SMEs) to ease Digital Transformation (DT). Readiness is considered as a triggering point before committing in DT for SMEs while Maturity is a picture of the achievement of such a DT allowing gradual progress. SMEs have specific features that makes them different from big size companies and threatening them to turn into industry 4.0 era using the advanced digital solutions. Not because they are unable to use them, just because they are essentially afraid of committing and unaware about the best practices. The aim of this exploratory study is to focus on the readiness dimensions as a prerequisite and to investigate further the maturity evaluation of digital development. Literature helps to draw the actual research landscape to underline the critical aspects that SMEs are tackling to and unveil the initial conditions of readiness to ease the DT while improving maturity level assessment. The study comes up with hybrid RMM-SMEs framework to encompass both readiness evaluation to start DT and maturity evaluation to pursue DT. The perspectives of this work are also evoked to lead the interviews supporting RMM-SMEs development.
