摘要
The chapter describes the qualitative methods used in the research project. The project worked with people living with the sickle cell condition, and two voluntary sector organisations. The project used a process of ‘democratic co-production’ to ensure inclusion in research, so while it was co-produced with the voluntary sector, people living with sickle cell could participate as and when they felt well enough. People living with sickle cell also took the lead in two focus group discussions on developing interview questions and establishing their research priorities as co-producers in this research study. The interviews included men and women participants but this book is based on the twenty-five female respondents. The chapter describes the sampling strategy and methods of analysis undertaken as well as positionality of the research team.
