Challenges of I4.0 Implementation in Supply Chain of the Retail Sector
摘要
This research concludes that integrating Industry 4.0 (I4.0) technologies into retail supply chains significantly enhances resilience, operational efficiency, and decision-making quality. These improvements are achieved by addressing key challenges such as substantial investment demands, incompatible technological systems, and fragmented value chains. Building on this insight, the present research introduces a novel approach to identifying and prioritizing the barriers to I4.0 implementation in the retail sector. Unlike previous works that focus on isolated technologies and mostly for manufacturing, this research adopts a comprehensive perspective, combining expert evaluations with a multicriteria decision-making (MCDM) framework to systematically assess the most critical obstacles. The goal of this research is to investigate the challenges hindering the smooth integration of I4.0 into retail supply chains, aiming to transform traditional logistics models into resilient and adaptive systems. The research aims to provide practical ways for overcoming these barriers, thereby enabling retail companies to future-proof their supply chains in an increasingly volatile global environment. To achieve this, the research draws on a literature review and expert interviews, offering practical recommendations for decision-makers seeking to modernize supply chain operations through smart and digital technologies.
