Introduction: A Life in Economics, Feminism, and Public Engagement
摘要
Barbara Bergmann (New York 1927 – Bethesda, Maryland 2015) was an outstanding economist, a fierce feminist, and a tireless advocate for social reform. Her academic activity started in the 1960s and officially ended in 1988, although she continued to work and publish until her final days. In her life, Bergmann witnessed the economic, political, and social transformation of American society between the 1930s and the 2010s; the rise of civil rights and feminist movements; the institutionalization of women’s studies and feminist economics; and the methodological debates that reconfigured the profession from the 1960s onward.
