Positive claims We know that if we want to make a positive claim that, say, “X is associated with Y”, or “there is a difference between group A and group B”, we need to have statistically valid evidence for the claim. As we saw in earlier chapters, this evidence requirement is expressed by the concept of statistical significance: if you don’t have statistical significance, you can’t really claim that you have a positive result.
