This concluding chapter recalls the discussions of the previous chapters and reasserts how the artistic, technological and societal trends of the 2010s continue to inform and influence the modern situation post-ChatGPT. Finally, the chapter briefly reflects on where these trends may lead in the future if we continue to consider AI systems uncritically as something akin to human beings and continue to defer cultural communication to technology. The chapter concludes that to be enamoured by the spectacle of AI is to indulge in the fantasies and illusions that surround AI, rather than addressing the materiality of these technologies and how they are fundamentally changing the role of humanity within culture.
