This chapter provides a comparative analysis of the economic diplomacy (ED) strategies adopted by developed economies in the Asia–Pacific region—namely, the United States, Australia, South Korea, and Japan—during and in the aftermath of the COVID-19 pandemic. It examines how these countries leveraged their economic power and diplomatic instruments to navigate global supply chain disruptions, geopolitical tensions, and the shift towards digital and green transitions. The analysis reveals a common trend of prioritizing national economic security, diversifying trade relations, and using strategic initiatives—such as the Indo-Pacific Economic Framework (IPEF), AUKUS, and the Supply Chain Resilience Initiative (SCRI)—to counterbalance regional economic dominance and reinforce alliances. The chapter concludes with a comparative assessment of the shared achievements and emerging challenges faced by these nations in the evolving intlernational political economy landscape.
