This chapter applies Gregory Stanton’s Ten Stages of Genocide to the World of Harry Potter, showing how genocide operates as a nonlinear, reinforcing process rather than a fixed sequence. Stanton’s ten stages—classification, symbolization, discrimination, dehumanization, organization, polarization, preparation, persecution, extermination, and denial—are each explained and illustrated with real-world examples and those drawn from the Harry Potter novels and the Fantastic Beasts original screenplays. Although full extermination is ultimately prevented, the chapter shows how most stages of genocide are present, highlighting the importance of early recognition and individual and collective acts of resistance.

摘要
