Although anatomic and physiologic differences for some body systems have been described between donkeys, mules, and horses, these species share similar liver disorders. Hyperlipemia is the most common metabolic disorder in donkeys, with high morbidity and mortality in hospitalized animals. Viral and parasitic hepatitis occurs in donkeys and mules. Treatment of hepatic disorders is similar for donkeys, mules, and horses, although specific pharmacologic studies have not been performed in donkeys and mules for drugs commonly used in liver diseases.

摘要

Although anatomic and physiologic differences for some body systems have been described between donkeys, mules, and horses, these species share similar liver disorders. Hyperlipemia is the most common metabolic disorder in donkeys, with high morbidity and mortality in hospitalized animals. Viral and parasitic hepatitis occurs in donkeys and mules. Treatment of hepatic disorders is similar for donkeys, mules, and horses, although specific pharmacologic studies have not been performed in donkeys and mules for drugs commonly used in liver diseases.
