Mini–drone Photogrammetry for 3D Modelization of Aircraft: A Case Study at Vietnam Aviation Academy
摘要
Nowadays, unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) photogrammetry is gaining importance in 3D modeling for the aviation industry, particularly in field maintenance and detecting aircraft surface abnormalities. The research focuses on creating an image dataset for 3D modeling and detection, utilizing the Autel Evo Nano UAV (mini-drone) to capture close-range photos of the YAK-40 in Ho Chi Minh City as a case study with the lowest cost for all processes. By conducting four experiments for optimizing the workflow based on the best results, the model output after each project improved in quality, which led to a reduction in photos and a shorter processing time for making the correct dataset. The article will give an overview of the UAV-Photogrammetry process step by step for 3D aircraft, showing advantages of this method for constructing 3D aircraft, the usefulness of mini-drone in the data acquisition process, a specific case study, and constructing an integrated dataset for modeling 3D aircraft and detecting surface changes with low costs in the future.
