The strong connection between aviation and tourism not only helps increase tourist access to destinations but also enhances the tourist’s experience in an ecosystem. Airports are increasingly implementing technologies that reposition them as destinations rather than merely serving as thoroughfares. Therefore, this study attempts to assess how tourists use smart tourism technologies at airport and measure the effects of airport technology on tourist experience and word-of-mouth intention, the case study at Tan Son Nhat international airport was conducted through a survey with 423 questionnaires from Tan Son Nhat airport that have utilized the integrated smart tools for their travel experience. The research denotes exciting results; airport technologies play an important role in elevating the tourist experience and motivating their word-of-mouth (WOM) motivation. Taking that into consideration, airports can establish their position as appealing destinations, attract tourists, and contribute positively to the sustainable development of the aviation industry. Correspondingly, investors and airport management need to focus on advancing and implementing contemporary technological solutions to entice tourists and enhance their competitive edge. Therefore, airport service providers apply a variety of technologies to improve customers’ experiences. However, airports in developing countries such as Vietnam have yet to reach the quality of those in more developed countries. This research aims to identify customers’ perceptions of digital tools available at airports using the stimulus-organization-response (S-O-R) framework to examine the relationship between the impact of technology present at airports on customers and their effect on WOM intentions. Our findings show that self-service technologies (SSTs) and airport supporting technologies (ASTs) at Tan Son Nhat airport have a positive impact on traveler confidence benefits, traveler enjoyment, travel satisfaction, and word-of-mouth intention.
