Traumatic cardiac injury remains one of the most lethal injuries in patients with chest trauma. Despite being often obvious, clinical and imaging manifestations may initially be subtle, with delayed presentation or even incidental discovery. This chapter provides an overview of the spectrum of traumatic cardiac injuries encountered on non-gated chest computed tomography (CT) and discusses the role of such CT in their detection, initial characterization, and management.
