The R statistical software enables the calculation and visualization of key public health indicators, such as estimating the Global Burden of Disease. The burden of disease measures the health gap through indicators such as Disability-Adjusted Life Years and Healthy Life Years Lost, which summarize the weight of disease in populations into a single measure. This work presents an interactive R Shiny application for calculating Years of Life Lost, a measure of premature mortality in a population which estimates the average number of years a person would have lived had they not died earlier than expected. The interactive application calculator Years of Life Lost allows users to upload data disaggregated by year, country, region, sub-region, department, or municipality, as well as by sociodemographic characteristics such as age, sex, underlying cause of death, and its diagnostic code according to the International Statistical Classification of Diseases and Related Health Problems. The interactive application presents results through dynamic visualisations, including interactive maps and density plots to explore variability in mortality rates, and dynamic charts over time periods. Years of Life Lost are computed using secondary information sources, such as vital statistics from the Department of Administrative National Statistics [Departamento Administrativo Nacional de Estadística, DANE] and the Global Burden of Disease methodology.

摘要
