Drivability Analysis and Pile Driving Results of PHC Piles in Coral Reef Rock and Soil Strata
摘要
Based on the Red Sea Hotel project in Saudi Arabia, the drivability analysis, actual result of pile driving and bearing capacity of the PHC piles in coral reef rock and soil strata are analyzed. The research results show that: 1) The actual pile driving of PHC piles is easy than the GRLWEAP analysis in the shallow loose to very dense sand with coral reef debris layer, the actual pile driving of PHC piles is difficult than the GRLWEAP analysis in the weathered coral reef rock layer;2) For the driving of PHC piles in coral reef rock and soil strata, the hammer drop height and pile penetration should be strictly controlled to avoid the pile body damage, the final penetration can be considered as 3 mm per blow based on drivability analysis and actual result of pile driving; 3) Although some PHC piles fail to reach the designed pile tip elevation, the bearing capacity still meet the design requirements, and the piling work shows that PHC piles can achieve a good application result in coral reef rock and soil strata.
