This chapter articulates contributors’ analyses of political, structural, and representational intersectionality that affect college athletes’ identities. Hundley explains the challenges of conducting research from an intersectional perspective are two-fold: selecting the most salient identity markers and analyzing them wholistically to critique interacting forces within the social and cultural milieu. Next, she discusses the contemporary ideologies of post-racism, post-feminism, and post-DEAI (diversity, equity, access, and inclusion) sentiments juxtaposed against continual racism, sexism, transphobia, and other inequities in college sports despite legislation enacted over 50 years ago to ensure equality among sex and gender. In moving forward, Hundley reminds readers that intersectionality is used to not only understand the organization of power but devise strategies for social justice.

摘要
