Ethical, Pedagogical, and Research Implications of AI Use in Education and Academic Research
摘要
The evolution of AI has transformed education and academic research. It powers several academic tasks, such as teaching, learning, implementing research, and research writing. For example, generative AI could produce human-like outputs in response to user input, such as providing constructive feedback, outlines key research interests in a particular area, and summarizing an input text. However, researchers and practitioners have raised concerns about possible risks of AI. Central to these concerns are ethics, accountability, and integrity. Acknowledging the current concepts about AI use, this chapter contributes to the still limited literature on ethical use of AI. The chapter first provides an overall landscape of AI use in education and academic research, showing both potentials and achievements of AI before raising ethical concerns about responsible AI use. Subsequently, we outlines issues regarding the AI use in the academic world, arguing for the roles of policy and guidelines. Finally, we outlines issues that the future generations of AI should respond to.
