This article presents a small but active locally based civil society initiative founded in 2005 in the far southwest of Germany. The initiative is dealing with the colonial past and entanglements doing research, disseminating knowledge, and intervening in scientific and public debates. In this work, a whole range of connections have been revealed that link Freiburg and Namibia and relate both places to German colonialism.
