Developing a didactic curriculum for General Surgery trainees is a significant undertaking and should be tackled using a systematic approach. This chapter will review a validated method to begin this process along with the essential content areas that should be included in a modern General Surgery curriculum. It will also provide guidance on how to organize and deliver a curriculum once generated, while keeping in mind the unique time constraints that affect all surgeons. Lastly, this chapter will address curriculum evaluation and assessment to ensure it is addressing the needs of trainees and keeping up with current trends in surgical education.
