Assessing the Efficiency of Cargo Distribution Using Road Freight Through Data Envelopment Analysis
摘要
The cargo distribution of road freight efficiency balances the trade-off between economic and environmental benefits. Increased road freight efficiency boosts economic growth, employment and work. Factors include population growth, urbanisation, globalisation, digitalisation and demographic demand for future freight transport to improve distribution system services. However, transportation research has been focused on passenger transport but lacks on goods transport. Thus, this study aims to evaluate the efficiency and productivity levels of road freight distribution in the Peninsular Malaysia. Data Envelopment Analysis, CCR and BCC model were used to assess the 11-year efficiency and productivity from 2005 to 2015. Findings implied that multiple factors influence the efficiency levels of road freight cargo distribution, such as geographical terrains, tourism, road expansion, transportation centralisation, urbanisation, economy, weather, road conditions and synergistic interactions of factors.
