The research problem revealed that maritime operation students need to be trained in leadership to be a competent graduate officer for the maritime agencies and industry. For example, the competency for the naval cadet officers will be based on the characteristics of leaders in the Royal Malaysian Navy. The students will be assessed on the leadership skill to perform the duties of an Officer of the Watch, teamwork to achieve the mission, communication skill, making correct decision for safety in navigation, critical thinking process, command, and control on board a ship. The maritime leadership module shall be conducted in the ship navigation simulator to reduce operational costs, due to limited training availability on board ship and to ensure a systematic training methodology.
