Family Emotional Support in the Accompaniment of Women Entrepreneurs
摘要
Women entrepreneurs often face difficulties with support provided by formal structures. In seeking emotional support, they turn to informal support systems, notably the family. The objective of this article is to analyze how family emotional support is constructed within the accompaniment of women entrepreneurs. Drawing on semi-structured interviews with sixteen (16) women entrepreneurs across four regions of Cameroon (Bafoussam, Douala, Ebolowa, and Yaoundé), a content analysis conducted with QDA Miner 2024.0.7 shows that emotional support reduces uncertainty and stress, strengthens resilience and perseverance, and contributes to the identity- and motivation-building of women entrepreneurs. Moreover, the contribution of affinal family (in-laws) and the existence of a faith community enrich the literature on emotional support by incorporating more holistic approaches adapted to the affective needs of entrepreneurs.
