The need for automation in logistic processes grows more and more with the high demand and complexity work where every second matters. Whether it’s internal or external logistics, the automation has moved from being a nice-to-have to being a must-have, especially with the consistent advancements in other impactful technologies like AI, IoT, and Blockchain. Those technologies help automate tasks, take quick decisions, and especially data-driven decisions. Our review then starts by defining what intelligent agent systems are, how they act and execute tasks in smart logistics and warehouses. We will also tackle the artificial intelligence and logistics operations and discover what are the strategic warehouse optimizations, from data-driven operations to warehouse management systems and also multi-agent collaboration and decision-making. This work aims to help researchers and logistics professionals better understand how intelligent agents are shaping more responsive and reliable supply chains.
